When a Disney trip comes to an end, I feel some sort of way. I am tired, sad, lack motivation, and just want to stay in bed. I am never ready to return to reality meaning work with the endless emails, phone calls to return, etc. However, I must in order to pay for the next trip (just being honest here). I describe this dreaded feeling as a Disney Hangover. It comes on towards the end of a the Disney-cation and stays a few days after arriving home.
So what is an Unapologetic Disney Lover to do to sooth a Disney Hangover until the next trip?
Plan! Plan! Plan!
I feel that is a given. There is always another trip to look forward to. My sister and I like to stay on property experiencing new resorts. In February, we stayed in a Pirate room at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. My nephew loved it. In April, we stayed in a Royal room at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Riverside. I scheduled FastPass+ as soon as the window opened for my trip. I usually let my sister be in charge of the ADRs (Advance Dining Reservations) since she is a foodie. If my nephew is going on the trip, my sister and I attempt to do something new. In February, we did the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage. We sort of had a pirate thing going on during that trip. April’s trip had a Star Wars theme. We attended the Symphony In The Stars: A Galactic Spectacular Fireworks Dessert Party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Our next trip is in June with our parents. We will be staying at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground in our parents’ motorhome because they love staying there. Stay tuned for that adventure.
Disney Shopping
Under the influence of a Disney hangover, shopping for Disney items makes me feel a little better. The Shop Disney Parks App has gotten me into a little trouble because it makes getting park merchandise easy. I have ordered from the app twice. Once for home delivery and the second time I had the order waiting on me when I arrived at the resort.
Visit a Disney Store
Yes going to the Disney Store can be placed under Disney shopping. However, this is a place you can walk into and soak up the magic until you go “home” again. The Disney Store also has events taking place on certain days that involve story time, drawing, or trivia. Check with your local Disney Store for more information.
Talk to Other Disney Addicts
Who else can feel your pain of a Disney hangover, than another Disney addict. I love talking to my Disney lovin’ friends about their recent trips or so-to-be trips. A true Disney friend will not ask questions when they see you wearing your MagicBand as a bracelet.
Watch a Disney Movie
I love watching Disney movies, especially when I need a magical boost. It makes for a good way to spend an evening when I am doing work or on the weekend for a movie marathon.
These are just a few ways I cure a Disney Hangover. I am still experiencing a slight one since my last trip in April because we had so much fun meeting Kylo Ren, running in two of the races during Star Wars Half Marathon – The Dark Side Weekend, and taking pictures with Sadness of Inside Out.
How do you cure your Disney Hangover?
Well, I havent been Disney wasted since 2014. But when I have been, the hangover is wild! I like to look for Disney-inspired recipes to try to stretch out the magic. I also wear my Disney gear and use photos as slide shows, etc.
Thanks for sharing your Disney adventures with us!
I love the idea about using Disney-inspired recipes.
