As most of you know, my bank account seems to be attached to runDisney events. I just like running/walking with my Disney family and having Mickey Mouse waiting for me at the finish line. When I was told there was a Cast & Family 5K Fun Run to be held on October 12th, I jumped at the chance to participate. I mean it is a 5K at Walt Disney World. Why would I not want to do it? I registered for me and a friend.
The purpose of the 5K was to promote wellness among Cast Members and their families. The Family Wellness and Benefits Expo was held at ESPN Wide World of Sports October 11th-13th. I just stopped in to look around, but did not go on the show floor to see what was at each booth.

The 5K was held at ESPN Wide World of Sports with a starting time of 7:30am. Minnie Mouse was at the starting line to wish us good luck for a great race.

The race course was around the complex. On the course you had the option to jump through tires and over hay bales. Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Pluto were on the course to take pictures with us.

There was a DJ also encouraging us to “go, go, go”. Just like any Disney race, there were spectators and Cast Members cheering us on.
I ran and walked the course. I realized I must be more consistent in my training for the Walt Disney World Half Marathon in January. I was not concerned about time, but I could feel in my legs that I have to do a better job with training.

This was my first Cast & Family 5K Fun Run and I did have a good time. It was a good way to start the morning and interact with other Cast Members. This race was not about time or getting swept, just having fun. Would I participate again? Yes! I am addicted to Disney races, Disney race medal bling, and love being a Disney Store Cast Member.
