I Have an Excuse to “Wreck-It”

Wreck-It Ralph Official Logo – Disney

On this evening, D23 had a special 3D advance screening of Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph in Atlanta, GA  The screening was held at Regal Cinemas at Atlanta Station.  I invited my sister, @jhgive,  along and she gladly accepted.  I must say D23 is offering more events outside of Anaheim and Orlando.  If you want my take on D23 and their events, here is a  post  I did.

I learned about Wreck-It Ralph at the 2011 D23 Expo. Those in attendance were given a sneak peak of the movie.  I was intrigued due to it being a Disney movie and my love of video games. I have a love of Mario Brothers.  Now it does show my age because my first gaming system was an Atari.  Ok, enough of the walk down memory lane.

Before giving my review, here is some background information on the movie directed by Rich Moore. Wreck-It Ralph is the villain in the arcade video game Fix-It Felix Jr. For over 30 years, Ralph destroys the building that the hero, Felix, fixes.  Ralph decides he wants to leave his game and become a hero.  He ends up in the game Hero’s Duty battling “Cy-Bugs” with Sergeant Tamora Jean Calhoun. Ralph also meets Vanellope von Schweetz from the cart-racing game Sugar Rush. With Ralph leaving his game, a chain reactions has started in which an enemy has been released.

There are no spoilers in my review.  I found the movie to be entertaining, colorful, and funny.  Characters from some of my video games made an appearance such as Q*bert and a ghost from Pac-Man.  It was hard to choose a favorite character, but I am leaning towards Ralph.  I feel boys and girls alike would enjoy this movie as well as adults.  If you go to see the movie, come back to this post to leave a comment about your thoughts.
