Sharika Mahdi, artist, is an African-American New Orleans native and graduate of Louisiana State University. She caught the eye of Disney, who commissioned her to do four pieces to help inspire Imagineers creating Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Ms. Mahdi’s limited-edition paintings can be purchased on a tote, shirt, journal, and coasters at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. I purchased the tote at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter in December. You can follow Ms. Mahdi’s work on her Instagram account.
