The Challenge-Disney’s “One More Disney Day”

There have been rumors circulating about the meaning of “One More Disney Day” mean.  On December 31, 2011 during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest it was announced.   For the first time, Disneyland parks and Magic Kingdom Park will be open for 24 hours, from 6am on February 29, 2012 to 6am March 1, 2012.  They are giving guests extra time in the parks for this Leap Year.

Sara M. (@DisneySara) and I are up for the challenge.  We have other friends who may join us and I am eagerly awaiting on confirmations.  I booked a room on Disney property right after the announcement was made.  Sara and I are so excited. We have talked about all we want to do and wonder if there will be special merchandise.  Yes, Disney please make a special commemorative pin for this event.

Now for the people who know me, they are reading this and shaking their heads laughing.  I am not a night person.  I can go to bed at 8pm if I am not doing anything.  Staying up past 10pm is a great achievement.  I am wondering how I will fair at Magic Kingdom for 24 hours.  Do I train for this by staying up for 12 hours then 24 hours?   I could report on which attractions are the best to take a power nap on or how to sleep on a bench with your eyes open. Any advice?

There are other specials for this event such as getting an entire night free when staying at either a Walt Disney World Resort hotel or Disneyland Resort hotel for 3 nights or more.  This applies to stays between February 26, 2012 and March 10, 2012.  You must purchase by January 31, 2012. A sweepstakes is also taking place.  Disney is giving away 60 vacation packages.  This sweepstakes began on January 1, 2012 and ends on February 29.  For more information on these specials and “One More Disney Day” click here OneMoreDisneyDay.com

I cannot wait to do a report on what all I did with my “One More Disney Day”.  If you will be there, please let me know.

  1. You know I’m so tempted to do the challenge! If I can’t, I’ll look forward to hearing all about your experience!! Great post.

  2. I’m so ready for this challenge!! This will be a great time to make memories and test our strength. Lol. Stacie- hope you can make it cause I need to make memories with you. 🙂

    • We will be making memories that will be fun and silly. I love participating in first time events.

  3. I believe in you guys :). You CAN and WILL do this for all of the sleepy (and in bed by 10PM folk out there – like me), who try so hard to stay awake on a normal day- LOL.
Like I said, there will be plenty of time for power naps, and depending on the park, you could possibly be comfortable… Like during The Great Movie Ride at Hollywood Studios. I tend to sleep in there all of the time LOL..
I wish I could go, but I will be living the adventure through your eyes (or iPhone) so take good notes. Actually, I will be checking twitter/texts the next morning after I wake up LOL. Love the post!!

  4. Raquel – I am so looking forward to this. I am use to getting into the bed by 9. So this will be a sight to see me staying up for 24 hours. Please follow the crew via twitter.
