Disney Parks Blog Food Truck Meet Up

Hi there Diz Thru Brown Eyes readers!  It has been awhile since I have posted here, but I had to share my awesome experience attending the Disney Parks Blog Food Truck Meet Up on Thursday, January 9.  I was very excited because food trucks are relatively new in the Atlanta area, and I love them.  I could not wait to see how Disney had decided to emulate this growing trend.  Unfortunately, it rained most of the time, but that did not deter us from experiencing the food trucks!  We were greeted by colorful name tags (and a poncho) and an opportunity to enter our names for door prize drawings.

We were greeted by Chef Jeff who explained some background behind each truck and the food offerings.

We would be tasting three options from four trucks:  Superstar Café, Fantasy Fare, Namaste Care, and World Showcase of Flavors.

I started at Superstar Café, the truck that draws its influences from Disney Hollywood Studios.  There were three meatball sandwiches available.  My favorite of these was the Lamb Meatball Flatbread Sandwich with Tzatziki, Vegetable Relish, and Arugula-Fennel Salad.  The other options were a Spinach and Feta Meatball Sandwich and a Turkey Sausage and Golden Raisin Meatballs on Soft Polenta.

Next up was Fantasy Fare which offered food from various Disney parks from across the world.  Of course I was looking forward to the Hand Dipped Corn Dog.  I first experienced these while at Disneyland this summer for the D23 Expo.  I believe my son and I shared three in about 36 hours.  I was looking forward to seeing if they would be different on the other coast.  I did not think they were quite as good as I remember, but they were indeed good.  The other two entrees were the Croque Monsieur and a Glass Noodle Salad.

My third visit was to the Namaste Café truck.  I could smell the spices as I was walking up.  We received tastings of Tandoori Spiced Shrimp, Butter Chicken, and Slow Cooked  Beef Short Ribs, each served with Basmati Rice, Naan, and pickled vegetables.  The short ribs were so tender, and it was my favorite from this truck.

By the time I got to my final truck, World Showcase of Flavors, I did not have much room left.  This truck features offerings that you would find each fall during the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. The little bit of room I had left I saved for the Lobster Roll.  I hate that I missed out on the Pierogies with Kielbasa, which I have had before, and the Grass Fed Beef Sliders, both I heard were very good.

Despite the rain, the Disney Parks Blog Food Truck event was great!  Food prices range from about $7.50 to $18.25 (the lobster roll!) and child portions are available.  Visit Disney Parks Blog for even more coverage of the meet up.

Which food truck offering are you looking forward to trying on your next visit to Walt Disney World?

  1. Yummm! So glad to read this guest post from you, JoVonn. The pics are lovely, and the descriptions even more so. I think I would have to try the World Showcase of Flavors and Fantasy Fare!
