Camping At Disney Thru My Eyes

A little known gem at Walt Disney World is Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.  Now before I go too far in this post let me clarify that I am not one that gets excited about the best tactical backpack to sleep under the stars and be one with nature.  My method of camping is in a motorhome/recreational vehicle (RV) with a bed, bathroom, and cable.  My parents currently own a 45 foot motorhome with two slide outs.  Yes…this is how we camp.  If you do not have a motorhome, travel trailer, truck camper, or tent, there are cabins to stay in.

I am not sure how my parents got into camping.  My father is an active member of the National African American RV Association  or NAARVA.  My parents enjoy staying at Fort Wilderness due to the environment and it is Disney.  The majority of the trips, they rarely go into the parks.  They enjoy the quiet, calm, and laid back feeling of being at the campground. My father enjoys going to Fort Wilderness in December to see the campsites and golf carts decorated for the Christmas holidays.

Within Fort Wilderness is Trails Ends Restaurant.  I have eaten here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  I have never had a bad meal or service here.  I recommend you check this restaurant out at least once.  Next door is the Hoop-Dee-Doo-Musical Revue, a dinner show that several friends have raved about.  I have not eaten here but it on the list.

  1. I’ve always enjoyed my visits to FW, regardless of if i was staying there, attending the Hoop Dee Doo revue, meeting friends for a meal at Trails End, or just stopping by to enjoy the campfire and smokes before walking out to the marina to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks, and Electrical water pageant from the beach or the dock. Oh and yes your your parents RV looks AWESOME !

    • Hi Brian!!! Thanks for stopping by!! I can not see anyone not having a good time at FW.
