A Non-Drinker’s Take on Epcot After Hours Wind Down

Yes you read it right…A Non-Drinker participating in Epcot After Hours Wind Down.  One of my best friends, Shaene, informed me he would be attending Epcot After Hours Wind Down at La Cava del Tequila located in the Mexican Pavilion.  I have been to La Cava (we have shortened the name) several times and would order a coke, of course, while the rest of the crew was ordering alcohol.  I have never been a drinker, even in college.  So what would I do at this event where alcohol was the main ingredient? Just spend some time with my BFF as he drinks his tequila and mine.

After watching Illuminations, we made our way to the Mexican Pavilion.

We were asked to check in and given a wristband.  From surveying the crowd, I could tell it would be a full house.  Once we were allowed to enter, we discovered there was assigned seating.  This ensured everyone had a place setting from what I understand.

Several guests were very happy to hear that Hilda, Tequila Ambassador from Tequila, Mexico, had returned to conduct the event.

I do not want to give too much away for those who want to attend the event at La Cava.   From listening to others, the event was like a true tasting and not just “here are your drinks and food”.  Hilda gave a wonderful presentation and even quizzed us.  She explained the different types of Tequila, how it is made, and how holding the angle of the glass gives a different aroma.

We all were having so much fun talking with Hilda and other Cast Members that they literally cut all the lights on signifying time to leave. It was a wonderful way to end a day.  Due to it being an afterhour’s event, Epcot was empty and a good time to take pictures.

The next day, I returned to La Cava with other friends and Alejandro was present.  I told him how I enjoyed the event the night before even though all I wanted was a coke.  He told me I had to try a Mexican soda the next time I came in.

To sum up the event as a whole, I had fun due to being with a BFF and other Disney fans.  I did not take part in the tasting and that was the main draw of the event. However, the appetizers were good.  For those of you that love La Cava del Tequila, I encourage you to schedule an Advance Dining Reservation (ADR) with friends or solo as a way to show your adult Disney Side.

  1. Thank you for your insight on this event, Elantrice! I have never heard of this one.

  2. It’s nice to hear that you had fun without being into the drinks. I’ve heard such good things about the Cast at Cava, that probably has a lot to do with it. Thanks for posting!
